How it Began
Allen's parents have been going to bluegrass events for over
30 years and in 1999 they talked him into going with them to
Turkey Track in Arkansas. I had to stay home and when
Allen returned, he told me he wanted to turn our property into a
Bluegrass Park and have a festival the following year!
Our property was a forest of natural trees that would provide
ample shade and with the help of family the park was ready for
the 1st festival a year later. The big worry now was who would attend?
Fortunately people did come and they just keep coming and bringing friends with them!
We have been so blessed with all the wonderful friends we have gained. People keep telling us, "There is something about this place that is so relaxing." We hope you will feel that way too.
The events are family oriented and are very laid back. We have 32 acres of land set aside for the park so campers can walk around and enjoy the beautiful views. We are located about 1 1/2 miles off I-35.
If you love the "Old-Time" Bluegrass and Gospel Music, this is the place for you! If you are learning an acoustical instrument, jams can be your best teacher. We always have people that are just learning and ones that have been playing for years.
Allen is one of the lucky few that can play on anything that has strings . And if there's a jam he'll find it or hide out in it. Now me, I tried to play the bass. I found out that I'm better at listening and doing the business end of things and leave the music to Allen, which he loves to do. And of course someone has to do the dirty work.
Allen and I have been married 44 years and have 2 daughters. Kristy, the oldest, we lost in car accident in 2013. She has 2 daughters Kaylee 22 in Illinois. Kaylee graduated college in May with a degree in marketing and has a job with an International Company in Elgin,Ill. and Skyler 21, lives & works doing hair in LA, California. My youngest, Lisa is married to Erick Rachell and they live across the road from the park and help us. Lisa has 2 girls Taylor is 21 and lives and works in Oklahoma City living her dreams. and Shaylee is 15, lives with her mom and is my right hand around here.
In 2015 we added 10 full Hook ups for year round RV sites on the north end of the Bluegrass Park.
We welcome new people and hope you'll be a part of our bluegrass family. We want you to feel at home while you're here. We would love to have you come and join in the fun, or just come by for a visit and see the park anytime. We live in the house just East of the park.
